1785 – Napoleon Bonaparte-I,  aged 16 graduates from the military academy in Paris. He rose to be the Emperor  of France in  May  1804, and  conquered  most of the Europe  and  parts  of  Russia.

1865 – Elizabeth Anderson became the first female licensed physician in Britain .She co-founded the London School of Medicine for Women and a Mayor of  Aldeburg county. (pic credit- Stanisław Julian Ostroróg – for commons.wikimedia.org).

1922 – the first-ever radio commercial aired on station WEAF in New York City.

1959 – Explorer VI satellite (launched 7 Aug 1959) revealed an intense radiation belt around Earth and took the first remote imaging TV pictures of Earth meteorological conditions.

1961 – Dissolution of the United Arab Republic. or Emirates of Arabia, In the process, the strongly centralized Egyptian state imposed Nasser’s socialistic political and economic system on weaker Syria, creating a backlash from the Syrian business and army circles, which resulted in the Syrian coup of September 28, 1961, and the end of the UAR.

1984 – 1st floodlit ODI outside of Australia (India vs. Australia, New Delhi).

1985 – The first Indian Army expedition, sailing around the world in a small 37 feet fibre glass yacht named “Trishna”, sailed off from Bombay. (It circumnavigated the globe from 1985 to 1987. Col T. P. S. Chowdhary, AVSM, was the Team Manager.

2008 – SpaceX launches the first privately developed spacecraft, Falcon 1, into orbit.    Born….551 BC – Confucius, Chinese philosopher, teacher,  traveller and founder of Confucianism. Also called Kong Fuzi,   emphasized personal and governmental morality, harmonious social relationships, righteousness, kindness, sincerity, and a ruler’s responsibilities to lead by virtue. He was adviser to the Kingdom of Lu, but was exiled for getting more popularity than the king. He was later on worshipped and temples raised in his memory, his  descendents also  honoured.

1838 – Sai Baba of Shirdi (Maharashtra). Indian  spiritual  master  and  known to  have  magic  cures  and  solutions to  health and life  problems.He was belived to  be a Muslim  but  reverred  by  Hindus  and  all  communities alike.  Shirdi town is totally converted into a tourist and Sai Baba town, there are several Sai temples across  India.

1907 – Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Indian freedom fighter. Reverred as Shaheed-e-Azam,  Bhagat Singh  and his team of freedom fighters under Hindustan  Sociailst  Republic Association,  killed a British soldier John Sanders   who  Lathi Charged veteran freedom leader Lala Lajpat Rai   who  was fatally injured and died later.  Bhagat  Singh  also threw  a crude bomb and  anti-British posters in the Assembly. Bhagat Singh Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar were  hanged and cremated by the British  on March 23, 1931 in Lahore Jail clandestinely.    Indian freedom fighter (details were  published  in yesterday’s  Motto by mistake).

1929 – Lata Mangeshkar, legendary  playback singer, music  composer.  Crowned as the Queen of Melody , Voice of the Millenium, Swar Kokila and Nightingale  of India was the daughter of a music teacher of Indore  (M.P.)  who died early leaving the family  burden on her shoulders. she had three  popular singer  sisters Asha, Usha Meena  and a brother  Hridaynath Mangeshkar. She ruled  music world for about 80 years from 1942 to  2020, singing  in 36 languages  solo and in duets, chorus,  Bhajans, Ghazals and English carols etc. She was honoured with  Dadasaheb Phalke award in 1989, Bharat Ratna in 2001, listing on Guinness Book of Records, National Order of the Legion of Honour and  various Western music awards for  singing over 50,000 songs most of them are evergreen valuable melodies. She died of Covid-19 and  health complications on Feb. 06, 2022.

1982 – Abhinav Bindra, ace Indian  shooter, descendent of  legendary commander Hari Singh Nalwa. He is the first Olympic Gold winner in Beizing 2008 apart from World Championship 2006, 7 medals at Commonwealth Games and  3 at Asia Games during his  athletics career. he now runs an Academy in Chandigarh and other businesses. He was awarded Padma Vibhushan, Major Dhyan Khel Ratna and other honours. He also wrote his biography and other books on  sports.

1982 – Ranbir Kapoor, grandson of legendary actor, director/producer  Raj Kapoor and son of  popular actors  Rishi Kapoor-Neetu Singh. He has acted in Wake Up Sid, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Black, Saavariya,  Rajneeti, Rockstar, Barfi,  Sanju etc. He has won 7 Filmfare and several other awards. (pic credit-wikipedia.com).

1985 – Mouni Roy, popular Bengali and Bollywood actress, singer,  known for roles in  TV serials Devon Ke Dev Mahadev, Kyun Ki Saas Bhi Kabhie Bahu Thii  and some films like Pati Patni aur Woh, Do Sahaliyan, Naagin, Mahayodha Ram, Made in China etc. She has won IIFA awards, Zee Cine, Star Screen and nominations to Filmfare twice (pic credit-in.pinterest.com).

RIP… 1895 – Louis Pasteur, French chemist who became a founder of microbiology. He created and tested vaccines for diphtheria, cholera, yellow fever, plague, rabies, anthrax, and tuberculosis.

1954 – 137 people were killed when an Express Train fell from a flood-damaged bridge near East of Hyderabad.

You may have known…. In 2001-2011 decade, the number of women with teachers’ training graduate degrees increased by 122%. while the rise of those with degrees in nursing/medicine was a staggering 157%.
