New Delhi: In his first public remarks after the Opposition moved a notice to bring a motion for his removal as Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman, Jagdeep Dhankhar has strongly criticized the move, accusing certain forces of attempting to undermine India’s institutions.

Speaking at an event organized by the Sohan Singh Memorial Kaushal Vikas Kendra in Jaipur on Wednesday, Dhankhar stated, “A pre-planned attempt is being made to defame the institutions of this country. Some forces, both inside and outside India, are unable to digest the progress and prosperity of the nation. They are trying to divide and disintegrate India through these conspiracies.”

National Unity and Anti-National Forces:
The Vice-President urged the public to unite against these forces, emphasizing the role of the common man in safeguarding the nation’s integrity. He added, “We must neutralize, in togetherness, every anti-national narrative that seeks to weaken the nation.”

Dhankhar’s remarks come in the wake of an aggressive campaign led by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, who accused the Vice-President of acting as a spokesperson for the government, which, according to him, contributed to the disruptions in the Rajya Sabha.

Economic Nationalism and Moral Values:
Alongside defending the nation’s institutions, Dhankhar also highlighted the importance of economic nationalism, calling for greater involvement of trade, industry, and commerce organizations in nurturing national economic progress. He emphasized that while economic growth is vital, it must go hand in hand with fostering values, character, and morality in children, which he said had been relegated in the face of overwhelming materialistic pursuits.

Dhankhar’s defense of the nation’s institutions and his remarks on economic nationalism align with the ongoing political discourse, where the ruling BJP and the Opposition continue to clash over leadership and governance issues, especially in the wake of the Opposition’s attempts to challenge his position.
