Born….1716 – James Lind, Scottish physician. (He investigated sickness of sailors and began an experiment to remedy scurvy. He regulated sailors’ diet and especially included lemons and oranges in the diet of seamen on long voyages. This resulted in prompt eradication of scurvy  from the British Navy. The Dutch had implemented this practice almost two centuries earlier}. Lind also recommended shipboard delousing procedures and arranged for shipboard distillation of seawater for drinking (pic credit-bbc.com}.

1978 – Soha Ali Khan,  an  actress who has done Hindi, Bengali, and English films. She is the younger daughter of veteran actress Sharmila Tagore and former India cricket captain Mansoor Ali Khan, of Bhopal, and the younger sister of actor Saif Ali Khan. He popular films are Rang De Basanti, Soundtrack, 99,  Ahista Ahista, Mumbai Meri jaan, Iti Srikanta etc.

1980 – Shweta Tiwari, film and television actress. Known for roles in  serial Kasauti Zindgi Kay,  Parvarrish, Begusarai, Mere Dad Ki Dulhan, Mein Hun Aparajita and TV shows Bigg Boss 10, Nach Valiye, Jhalak Dikhla Ja, Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khilari  etc. She has won 8 Indian Televsion Academy Awards, 9 Indian Telly awards and 2 Gold Awards.

1997 – Rishabh Pant, popular Indian wicketkeeper and batsman. He has set many records as most sixes  by an Indian WKt-keeper,  most  runs in  an IPL  series. He has played 47 Tests, 31 ODIs,  76 T20Is and scored 8 centuries 148 half-centuries. He  also played for Delhi Capitals in IPL ad is now  with Lucknow Super Giants. He met with a sever accident while driving his to home in  Roorkee in 2022 but recovered  very fast. His aerobic act earlt this year after scoring a century in IPL has won hearts of millions of crikcket fans and his followers. He has won severtal awards. (pic credit-sportskeeda and video.

Rip...  1947 –  Max Planck  (Karl Ernst Ludwig Planck) was a German theoretical physicist. Planck made many contributions to  physics, primarily  as the originator of Quantum Theory and one of the founders of modern physics, which revolutionized understanding of atomic and subatomic processes. He was awarded Nobel Prize in 1918 (pic credit-futura-sciences.com).

You may have known….  1.  It’s believed the ancient Romans were the first people to use wedding rings in a way resembling the modern custom, although exchanging rings as symbols of eternity or affection dates back even earlier to ancient Egypt and Greece. Roman weddings were not like the elaborate, picturesque affairs of today, however; marriages were often less about romance and more about family alliances and property.
