Maharashtra has become epicentre of Covid
Palghar, May 1 (UNI) BJP’s Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday expressed concern about the spread of second wave of coronavirus in Maharashtra, saying that unfortunately the state has become the epicentre of Covid with maximum number of infected patients, deaths and active cases.
Speaking after inaugurating the Shramajivi Covid Care Centre at Usgaon of the district, he claimed that the healthcare system in the state was not in a position to meet the rising demand and treat the patients effectively.
He said that the last wave was not as bad as the current one, which has affected almost all the members of the families and different classes.
He expressed serious concern about a maximum number of patients being found in the rural parts of the state and blamed the authorities for not paying proper attention to the treatment of patients in the region.
Palghar is no exception to this, he pointed and asked the voluntary organizations to set up the Covid Care centres in rural areas of the state.
Mr Fadnavis said that the central government has given sufficient stocks of Remdesivir injections and also the supply of oxygen, and accused the state government of its failure to distribute the same properly.
He claimed that the powerful state ministers diverted both the oxygen and Remedisvir injections to their districts at the cost of the regions where it was required the most.
Pointing to the very low percentage of vaccination in the tribal regions of the state, he called for removal of deep-rooted fear in the minds of the tribals.
He urged the social organizations like the Shramajivi Sanghatanna to undertake the task of educating the tribals about the need and benefits of the vaccination, and ensure that they get vaccinated to protect themselves from the pandemic.
He hoped that with the help of the NGOs and social organisations, they would be able to strengthen the system and fight the Covid and make the people safe.
Referring to the Khavti scheme for the tribals, the Opposition leader said that if the government delays it further, then they would support the tribals in their agitation for their demands.
“We have been supporting the government in constructive things but if the needs of the tribals and citizens are ignored, then we will have no option other than to join the agitators for their demands,” he added.
