Bengaluru: In a chilling incident in Bengaluru, 19-year-old Maya Gogoi from Assam was brutally stabbed to death by her boyfriend Aarav Harni, who then remained with the body for an entire day before fleeing the scene. The murder took place in a service apartment in the city’s Indiranagar area.
Details of the Crime: Maya Gogoi and her boyfriend Aarav Harni were seen entering a service apartment together on November 23, around 12:30 PM. However, three days later, the police discovered her decomposed body inside the same apartment after receiving complaints about a foul odor.
CCTV Footage and Evidence: The police have revealed that Aarav Harni allegedly stabbed Maya to death on Monday, using a knife he reportedly brought with him. CCTV footage shows him entering the apartment with Maya on Saturday, and leaving alone at 8:30 AM on Tuesday. Investigators found blood-stained blankets, pillows, and a yellow nylon rope in the apartment, which Harni had allegedly ordered from a quick commerce site, Zepto. The rope was delivered to their apartment before the murder took place.
The body showed multiple wounds, with the fatal injury being a stab wound to the chest. There were also injuries on Maya’s head, further indicating a violent attack. Authorities suspect that Harni had planned the murder ahead of time, as evidenced by the rope and knife he brought with him.
Harni’s Actions: After the murder, Harni reportedly stayed with the body for an entire day before leaving the apartment early on Tuesday morning. The police noted that Harni switched off his phone after leaving, and CCTV footage showed no one else entering the apartment during the three-day period.
Investigation: The police are probing whether Harni had any plans to further dispose of the body, possibly by dismembering it, given the presence of the nylon rope and the knife. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to locate Harni, who is believed to have fled the area.
Background of the Victim: Maya Gogoi was a counselor at a private firm in HSR Layout, Bengaluru. Her family grew concerned when she failed to return home, and her sister filed a missing person report, which eventually led to the discovery of her body.
