Himachal skier stuck in upper reaches of Gulmarg rescued

Srinagar: An injured snowboarder of Himachal Pradesh who had got stuck in the upper reaches of Gulmarg was rescued by the ski petrol team of the Tourism Department, an official spokesperson said on Monday.
According to reports, the Ski Patrol team of the Tourism Department received a radio call from a skier, Amit Kapoor, a pilot by profession, who informed that a woman snowboarder with a fractured ankle had got stuck near the back entry adjacent to K 3 mid-mountain, the spokesman said.
Amid windy weather conditions, a three-member Ski Patrol team comprising Mehraj ud Din, Muhammad Ashraf and Abdul Ahad took up the uphill mission along with a Toboggan and other necessary first aid and a quick rescue was launched by the Ski Patrol members.
The snowboarder was loaded in Toboggan, given quick first aid immediately and removed to hospital for further treatment.
In a similar incident early this month, the Ski Patrol team rescued a Norwegian skier when he had lost his ski track and landed on a wrong track.
The Ski Patrol team of the Tourism Department, it may be mentioned here, comprises avalanche forecasters well-trained Ski guides with brilliance in timely rescue.
The team updates daily snow forecasts and avalanche advisories for the skiers to make Gulmarg skiing their best experience.

Shimla: Adani Cement will resume production in its plants at Barmana and Darlaghat from Tuesday, according to the company.
The announcement followed the end of the 66-day impasse between Adani group, Himachal Pradesh Government and truck operator unions here on Monday.
