Sikkim CM Tamang congratulates traders benefitting from SC ruling on I. Tax
Gangtok: The recent Apex Court ruling on income Tax case filed by old citizens of the State have brought smiles on the faces of those living in Sikkim prior to 1975. Sikkim Chief Minister PS Tamang on Thursday congratulated all those who are covered by the verdict of the Supreme Court on Income Tax exemption.
“The old settlers who have been living in Sikkim prior to 1975, have been exempted. They were not filing returns as the case was in the apex court. We respect the verdict of the Court,” said Tamang, here. on Thursday, during pre-Sonam Lochar, the Tamang New Year Celebrations.
The people, here particularly Vyaparis (business community) have been striving to get income tax exemption at par with ethnic Bhutia, Lepcha and Nepali communities.
