Celebrities and officials join hands to aid affected families...
Mohali : Punjab has been grappling with devastating floods in recent days, and several prominent figures and officials have stepped forward to help the affected families. Singer-actor Ammy Virk announced on Instagram that he and his team have adopted 200 homes to provide shelter for those who lost everything in the floods. “Our heart aches seeing the devastation. In our small effort to bring comfort and stability, we are adopting 200 houses to support those who have lost everything. This is not just about shelter—it’s about giving hope, dignity, and strength to start again,” Ammy wrote in his post.
Alongside him, Punjabi actor-singer Himanshi Khurana pledged to help resettle 10 families in flood-affected areas. She stated on Instagram, “Today, seeing Punjab in such a condition, every Punjabi’s heart is crying. We will make our Punjab like it was before, and according to my capacity, I will contribute to helping resettle 10 families in flood-affected areas. All celebrities, leaders, media, social media personalities and the public should unite and help each other. We Punjabis are with Punjab.”
On the administrative side, Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema flagged off five truckloads of relief material for flood-hit families in Ajnala sub-division from the AAP office in Sector 76, Mohali. The relief trucks carried 1,000 ration kits, 600 packets of drinking water, 400 mosquito nets, 400 mattresses, and 200 folding beds. Expressing gratitude to AAP volunteers and the people of Punjab for their support, Cheema emphasized that Punjab has made countless sacrifices for the nation, and now it is time for the Central government to stand with its people.
These efforts come amid widespread flooding in Punjab, which has affected thousands of families, with rivers and seasonal rivulets overflowing due to heavy rainfall. The collaborative efforts of celebrities, local volunteers, and government authorities are aimed at providing immediate relief and supporting the rehabilitation of displaced families.
