Mahatma Jyotirao and Mata Savitribai Phule lit the lamp of education in times of darkness: Saini
Chandigarh/New Delhi- Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday inaugurated the International Saini Bhawan at Mangolpuri, Delhi. On the occasion, he also unveiled statues of Gautama Buddha, Jyotirao Phule, Savitribai Phule and Shoor Sain installed at the premises. The Chief Minister also announced a grant of Rs. 51 lakh for the Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Trust.
While addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and Mata Savitribai Phule lit the lamp of education in a time of darkness. He said the ceremony reflects the ideas, values and ideals that gave direction to Indian society, awakened new consciousness and strengthened the path of social justice, education and equality. It is a proud moment that statues of these great personalities were unveiled in Mangolpuri, calling it a tribute to the spirit that brought light in times of darkness.
Saini said that Mahatma Jyotirao and Mata Savitribai Phule are not merely names, but two pillars of social reform who laid a strong foundation for equality and education. At a time when educating daughters was considered a crime, Mata Savitribai Phule worked to advance knowledge. They fought against caste discrimination and injustice, using the pen as a sword and spreading the light of reform through their ideas.
No weapon greater than education
The Chief Minister said that these statues will continue to remind us that there is no weapon greater than education, no religion greater than equality and no national duty greater than humanity. He urged everyone to encourage their daughters to move forward and raise their voices against discrimination. He also called upon people to work together to ensure that education reaches the last person in society.
On this occasion, Trust President, Shripal Saini briefed the Chief Minister about various activities undertaken by the Trust and presented its demands. Rajya Sabha MP, Rajendra Singh, former MP, Raj Kumar Saini, former Minister, Dharam Singh, Uttar Pradesh Minister, Jaswant Saini, Gulab Singh and several other dignitaries were present at the event.
