Kerala Governor Highlights Bhagavad Gita’s Role in Environmental Preservation at International Gita Festival

On Thursday, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan spoke at the 9th International Gita Conference at Kurukshetra University, Haryana, as part of the International Gita Mahotsav. The theme of his address was “Balanced Nature and Pure Environment Based on the Bhagavad Gita.” During his speech, he emphasized that the Bhagavad Gita is the cornerstone of India’s cultural heritage and serves as a guide for the welfare of humanity. He further stressed the importance of spreading its message of environmental conservation globally.

Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, who also spoke at the event, highlighted the relevance of the Gita’s teachings in addressing the challenges faced by human life, particularly in relation to environmental protection. He described the Bhagavad Gita as a sacred text that offers solutions to life’s problems through balance and sustainable living.

Governor Khan also pointed out that the Gita encapsulates the essence of the Upanishads and Vedic scriptures, reflecting the unity and integrity of India. He stressed the need to promote the message of the Gita in global contexts, especially its role in environmental protection.

Swami Gyananand Maharaj, a renowned scholar of the Gita, reiterated the Gita’s global message on environmental conservation, stating that Kurukshetra, the place of its origin, is a sacred land. Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh, Governor of Uttarakhand, praised the efforts of Haryana in preserving its cultural values and traditions, celebrating the rich heritage of Kurukshetra.

The 18-day International Gita Mahotsav aims to help people understand the teachings of the Gita, which offer solutions for overcoming life’s dilemmas. The festival runs from November 28 to December 15, with key events taking place from December 5 to 11. Tanzania is the partner country for this year, and Odisha is the partner state.
