Himachal Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Pathania attends Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Chandigarh
Chandigarh; Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania arrived in Chandigarh on Sunday evening to participate in the three-day Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Zone-II Conference being hosted by the Haryana Vidhan Sabha from June 8 to 10.
The Himachal Pradesh delegation includes MLAs Sanjay Rattan, Deputy Chief Whip and MLA Keval Singh Pathania, Neeraj Nayar, Rakesh Jamwal, Reena Kashyap and Kamlesh Thakur. The delegation joined representatives from various states at the conference.
Prior to the inaugural session, Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania attended a luncheon hosted by the Governor of Haryana, Ashim Kumar Ghosh, in honour of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, presiding officers and delegates participating in the conference. During the function, the Haryana Governor honoured Pathania with a shawl and a memento.
Pathania also participated in a medicinal plantation drive organised at the Haryana Lok Bhavan complex. During the luncheon, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla interacted with presiding officers from different legislatures and discussed the conference agenda.
The formal inauguration of the CPA India Region Zone-II Conference was held at the Haryana Legislative Assembly complex in Chandigarh. The event commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in the presence of presiding officers and delegates.
Among those present at the inaugural session were Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Haryana Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mahipal Dhanda, Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana, Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar, Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar, Haryana Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan, Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan and Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather.
Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Secretary Yashpal Sharma and secretaries from various state legislatures also attended the conference.
During the inaugural programme, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh addressed the gathering, while Haryana Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan delivered the welcome address. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mahipal Dhanda proposed the vote of thanks. Presiding officers from different legislatures were also honoured according to traditional Haryanvi customs.
On June 9, Kuldeep Singh Pathania will address a plenary session at Hotel The Lalit on the theme “Viksit Bharat 2047: Role of Aware Citizens, Society and Young Legislators in Achieving National Goals.” Members of the Himachal Pradesh delegation will also present their perspectives on the subject during the conference.
