DC Komal Mittal Reviews Functioning of Nasha Mukti Kendra at Mohali

Motivates inhabitants to shun drugs and lead healthy lives

SAS Nagar:  Deputy Commissioner and Chairperson of the District De-addiction and Rehabilitation Society, SAS Nagar, Komal Mittal, visited the centre and interacted with the inhibitants at Nasha Mukti Kendra, Mohali and interacted with the inmates undergoing de-addiction treatment.

She emphasized that Nasha Mukti Kendra, Mohali is set to become a model centre for Punjab in the near future. Upon admission, individuals first undergo a 2-3 week de-addiction treatment. Subsequently, they are shifted to the rehabilitation facility within the same complex, where they receive skill training in computers, mobiles, electrical work, and cooking based on their preferences.

During her visit, the DC directed the staff to ensure that the patients receive a nutritious diet to aid their recovery process. Additionally, the centre has been equipped with recreational facilities, a yoga room, and kitchen gardening activities to keep the inhibitants engaged.

Komal Mittal reiterated that the district administration, in collaboration with the health department, is committed to supporting addicts in overcoming substance abuse and rebuilding their lives.

She was accompanied by ADC (D) Sonam Chaudhary, SP (PBI) Deepika Singh, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangita Jain, Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Parvinder Pal Kaur, and Psychiatrist Dr. Pooja Garg.               (with inputs from DPR)
