SAS Nagar: The ongoing nomination process for the Local Bodies Elections in District SAS Nagar recorded three nomination papers on the second day, with filings received in Zirakpur and Kharar Municipal Councils.
Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Komal Mittal told the media that one candidate filed nomination papers for Ward No. 22 of Municipal Council Zirakpur, while two nomination papers were received for Ward No. 22 of Municipal Council Kharar.
She informed that May 16 is the last date for filing nominations. The scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on May 18, while May 19 has been fixed as the last date for withdraw
al of nominations.
The DC further stated that elections will be held for 195 wards across various local bodies in the district on May 26. These include Municipal Corporation Mohali and Municipal Councils Kharar, Kurali, Naya Gaon, Derabassi, Zirakpur, Lalru and Banur.
She said that the nomination process for Wards No. 1 to 25 of Municipal Corporation Mohali is being conducted at PUDA Bhawan, while nominations for Wards No. 26 to 50 are being received at the SDM Office, Mohali.
Similarly, nomination papers for Municipal Councils Kharar and Derabassi are being received at the SDM Court Rooms of Kharar and Derabassi respectively, while the Market Committee Chairman Office/Room, Banur has been designated as the nomination receiving centre for Municipal Council Banur.
Apart from this, the Municipal Council offices at Zirakpur, Kurali, Naya Gaon and Lalru have been notified as nomination receiving centres for their respective local bodies.
She added that all Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers have been directed to ensure a fair and transparent nomination process while maintaining a level playing field for all candidates.
