AP HC dismisses YSRCP rebel MP’s bail petition, asks to approach session court

Vijayawada, May 15 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh High Court here on Saturday dismissed the bail petition of YSRCP rebel MP K Raghuramakrishnam Raju, who was arrested on Friday in Hyderabad, and asked him to approach the Sessions court for bail.
Mr. Raghuramakrishnam Rao, who was elected from Narasapuram Parliamentary constituency in West Godavari district on YSRCP ticket, differed with the party high command and made obnoxious comments against the party leaders.
The CID wing of AP police arrested the MP at his residence in Hyderabad and took him to the CID office in Guntur. The MP filed a house-motion petition in the High Court which heard the bail plea of the MP on Saturday. Senior lawyer Adinarayana Rao presented arguments on behalf of the arrested MP.
The High Court said that they should first file a petition in the sessions court for bail and later they should approach the High Court. The defence lawyer argued that without any preliminary inquiry and evidence the police arrested him.
The police registered cases under sections 124/A, 153/A, 120/B and 505 r/w against the YSRCP rebel MP for making comments through social media causing social enmity and treason.
Meanwhile, the arrested MP was questioned by the CID officials led by additional DGP Sunil Kumar in the CID office. The arrested MP was produced before the Magistrate of the sessions court this evening.
A Lawyer at the court told the media that the MP complained to the Magistrate that the police had beaten him up and shown the injuries on the leg.
