1999 – India rejects Pakistan’s proposal for an international conference on arms control.

2018 – Prime Minister launches “Modicare,” a free healthcare programme, the world’s largest healthcare as Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) with Healthcare worth Rs. 2 lakh per family and expanded on September 11, 2024 for Rs. 5 lakh family

Born…. 1861 – Robert Bosch, German engineer and industrialist who was responsible for the invention of the spark plug and magneto for automobiles and whose firm produced a wide range of precision machines and electrical equipment in plants throughout the world.
1908 – Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’, freedom fighter poet and essayist. 
Known as Rashtrakavi, Dinkar wrote Veer Ras poems, like Hunkaar in 1938, Singhasan Khali Karo Janta Aati Hai and more. He was elected to Rajya Sabha between 1952-64 and awarded Padma Bhushan. His collections of poems Pranbhang, Dhoop Chhaon, Dilli, Kurukshetra etc. 
1917 – Asima Chatterjee, India’s first woman PhD in chemistry, pioneered anti-malarial drugs, advancing Indian scientific history (pic credit-wikipedia.com).
1935 – Prem Chopra, popular Bollywood and Punjabi actor, mostly playing villain roles. He debuted in and went on to act in over 380 films like Chaudhary Karnail Singh, Shaheed, Pukaar, Woh Kaun Thi, Teesri Manjil, Sagai, Mera Saya, Poorab Aur Paschim, Bobby, Kati Patang, Koi Mil Gaya, Do Anjane etc. He won a Filmfare and Lifetime 
Achievement award, apart from several film accolades.
1943 – Tanuja Samarth, vetaran Bengali and Bllywood actress. She is the daughter of veteran actress Shobhana Samarth and younger sister of Nutan Behl, and mother of actress Kajol and Tanisha. She’s married to producer, director and writer Shomu Mukherjee. Tanuja has acted in Memdidi, Chand Aur Suraj, Haathi Mere Saathi, Mere Jeevan Saathi, Jewel Thief, Jeene Ki Raah, Anubhav, Raaj Kumari, Pratham Kadam Phool etc. She has won a Filmfare award and Lifetime Achievement Award apart from other film accolades (pic credit-ar.inspired pencil.com).
RIP…. 1863 – Rao Tula Ram, commander and later the King of Rewari (Haryana), one of the powerful leaders of India’s First War of Freedom 1857. He captured Delhi throne from the English army for a few days in may 1857 and helped Bahadur Shah with money and forces but was beaten by British army soon. He went to Kabul to seek help from the Shah of Iran and Dost Mohammed Khan of Afghanistan but was pisoned by some detractors and died in Kabul on Sept. 23, 1863 at a young age of 38 years. He has been honoured as a great nurturer of Freedom Movement
