Tokyo: Indian Women’s Cricket Team bagged the first Gold Medal for India in the ongoing Asian Games 2026 in 
Nagoya (Tokyo) today. The team’s charge was commandered by ace batter Smriti Mandhana, scoring 79 alongwith Rich Ghosh, (who scored 49 not out) to post 216/3. Earlier the Indian opening pair, put up a brutal stand of 99 runs between Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma.
Sri Lanka team was bundled out for 69, losing the Asiad 2026 Final by 147 runs, thus getting th
e Silver medal at the Games. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur was jubilant on the victory and hoped Indian participants bag more and more Golds at the Asia’s biggest sports event.
