Chandigarh municipal house meeting turns chaotic as AAP and BJP councillors clash

Chandigarh : The general house meeting of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation on Tuesday turned chaotic as AAP and BJP councillors clashed, using unparliamentary language against each other during a discussion on an agenda.

The incident began when Manoj Sonkar, a BJP councillor, allegedly used unparliamentary language against Kuldeep Singh, a former AAP Mayor and current AAP councillor. The exchange quickly escalated, prompting councillors from all parties to try and calm the situation.

Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla appealed to both sides to maintain decorum and respect the dignity of the house, but the shouting continued.

Despite the ruckus, the house managed to approve the agenda for issuing the tender for GIS-based Mechanized and Manual Sweeping of the Southern Sectors of Chandigarh (Sectors 31-56, 61, and 63), excluding Behlana.
