Chandigarh Police Launches SHE-Box for Complaints
Online portal to report workplace sexual harassment; investigation under DSP supervision
With increasing awareness around women’s rights at the workplace and the need for swift action in harassment cases, this platform comes as a timely solution. The SHE-Box portal is a step towards breaking the silence that often surrounds such incidents due to fear, social stigma, or workplace pressure.
Chandigarh Police confirmed that once a complaint is filed on the portal, it will immediately be directed to the relevant Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of the concerned organization or department. Most importantly, the entire process will be closely monitored by a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) to ensure that justice is not only promised but delivered efficiently.
Officials believe that the launch of this portal will encourage more women to speak up without the fear of facing bias or retaliation. According to a senior officer, “This platform reflects our commitment to listening to women’s concerns and ensuring quick and transparent investigations. Every case will be reviewed thoroughly, and no complaint will be overlooked.”
The portal is designed to be user-friendly and secure. Complainants simply need to provide basic details about themselves, the incident, and the person(s) involved. They can even upload supporting documents or media, if available. Once submitted, they receive a unique tracking ID to monitor the progress of their case.
Over the years, cases of sexual harassment at workplaces have often gone unreported due to lack of access to proper redressal systems. With SHE-Box, the aim is to eliminate those barriers. Not only does it bring transparency into the system, but it also ensures that women are heard, respected, and protected.
The initiative has already drawn positive responses from working professionals across Chandigarh, especially from women working in private organizations, startups, and small businesses—sectors where formal complaint mechanisms may not always be robust.
Experts also believe that the strict oversight by a DSP will enhance the credibility of the system and deter offenders from abusing their power in workplaces.
Chandigarh Police encourages all women facing any form of harassment at work to use the portal and raise their voice. This digital solution serves not just as a complaint mechanism, but as a symbol of empowerment and justice in the digital age.
As we move towards a more inclusive and respectful work culture, SHE-Box is a commendable step in ensuring that no woman has to suffer in silence again.
