Punjab Police Special Cell Arrests an Ex-Armyman Gurpreet Singh (FAUJI)………

SAS Nagar (Mohali): Ravjot Kaur Grewal, IPS, AIG, State Special Operation Cell, Punjab Police, SAS Nagar has informed media that in a significant operation, the State Special Operation Cell, SAS Nagar, Punjab Police has recently apprehended Gurpreet Singh @ Guri @ Fauji S/o Milkha Singh, resident of Village Mattar Uttar, PS
Mamdot, District Ferozepur, for his involvement in espionage activities and for sharing sensitive and classified information related to Indian Army with Pakistan’s ISI handlers. The accused Gurpreet Singh @ Fauji who was currently lodged in Ferozepur Jail in connection with a narcotics case. He was earlier arrested by NCB, Amritsar City in April 2025, and 1 Kg heroin was recovered from his possession. Post arrest, he was lodged in Ferozepur Jail.
During his custody in Ferozepur Jail, he came in contact with Pakistan-based individuals, who are believed to be working for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI. Gurpreet Singh @ Fauji used his past military experience and contacts to obtain and transmit classified documents and strategic information related to the Indian Army, including details about deployment and operational strategies against Pakistan, details of Indian Army arsenal and sensitive official weaponry documents of Indian Army.
The accused was brought to SSOC, SAS Nagar on production warrant, where during sustained interrogation, he disclosed that he had previously served in the Indian Army and has remained posted in various parts of India including sensitive border states of Jammu & Kashmir and Sikkim during his service period. Even while in judicial custody, Gurpreet Singh managed to exploit his old army contacts to acquire classified military information, which he then transmitted to Pakistan handlers using discreet channels.
In this regard, FIR No. 10 dated 04.06.2024 had been registered at Police Station SSOC, SAS Nagar under
Section 152 & 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Official Secrets
Act, 1923.
Further investigations are underway to identify his network, handlers, and the extent of the data leak.
More arrests and disclosures are likely in the coming days as the probe progresses.
