Rahul Gandhi to visit additional UP districts in Bharat Jodo’s second leg.
During the second leg of Bharat Jodo, Rahul Gandhi will visit additional districts in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The second part of the yatra will take place just a few months before the Lok Sabha elections that will take place in 2024.
LUCKNOW: Although the exact dates for the second leg of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra have not yet been determined, the UP Congress leaders assert that the former president of their party would spend a significant amount of time in the state visiting more districts.
Just a few months will separate the second phase of the yatra from the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The route map for the Yatra, which is anticipated to start from Porbandar in Gujarat on either August 15, Independence Day or October 2, the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth, is reportedly being finalised, according to party sources in UP.
The Yatra will likely end at Agartala, the northeastern state of Tripura’s capital. During the second iteration of his yatra, Rahul Gandhi has been asked to visit more districts and spend more time in UP, which is politically highly important, according to a top Congress official.
Gandhi walked for 136 days in the inaugural iteration, which got under way on September 7 from Kanyakumari. However, on his two-day visit to the state in the first week of January, he had only visited Ghaziabad, Baghpat, and Shamli, three of the western UP districts. In J&K, the yatra had come to an end.
