Army Chief General Manoj Pandey will visit Jammu today, will discuss anti-terrorism operations

There have been about two to three major attacks in 13 Sector Rashtriya Rifles area in recent times. A visit by high-level Defense Ministry officials is also expected this week where they will be briefed about the ground situation and steps being taken to counter the recent surge of Pakistani terrorists in the region.

New Delhi: Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pandey is likely to visit Jammu on Monday amid the recent terror attacks in the Poonch-Rajouri sector. He will review the situation in Poonch-Rajouri sector and discuss further strengthening the anti-terrorism grid there. The visit comes days after four soldiers were killed in a terrorist attack on a convoy in Poonch district.

Defense sources said the Army Chief is likely to discuss the martyrdom of soldiers in the recent terror attack and the ongoing anti-terrorist operations in the region during his visit to Jammu. Poonch-Rajouri sector is the responsibility of 16 Corps whose command is going to change regularly. Present Lieutenant General Sandeep Jain is handing over the command to Lieutenant General Naveen Sachdev. The Army Headquarters is also closely monitoring the situation and is closely monitoring the operations there.

The Army is also likely to take action and hand over charge to officers who have better dealt with situations in areas where there have been several attacks on troops in the region.
