Hisar (Haryana), Feb 17: Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday partially dismissed the petition filed against former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh under the Scheduled Castes and Tribes Act, quashing the case with some relief registered against him in Hansi. According to the decision of the division bench of Justice Amol Ratan Singh, the case against Yuvraj under the said Act will go on but section 153A involved in it has been removed. Yuvraj had filed a petition seeking to quash the case registered against him at Hansi City Police Station which the court has partially dismissed by issuing an order today. Arjun Sheoran, counsel for complainant Rajat Kalsan in the case, said that as per the order of the court, the case against Yuvraj will go on but section 153A has been removed from it. The court rejected Yuvraj’s contention that the word ‘Bhangi’ was used for cannabis drinkers. Now in this case, Yuvraj will be tried in the special court established under the Scheduled Castes and Tribes Atrocities Act in Hisar and he will have to appear in the court on every hearing. Earlier, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had already granted anticipatory bail to Yuvraj in the case registered against him. He had also been obliged to the Hansi police investigation. Hansi Police had arrested Yuvraj in this case and released him on interim bail. The city police will now file chargesheet against Yuvraj in the special court of Hisar. It is noteworthy that while video chatting on Instagram with his fellow cricketers Rohit Sharma and Yuzvendra Chahal, Yuvraj had made derogatory remarks for the scheduled caste and the video went viral on social media. Rajat Kalsan, a Dalit rights activist from Hansi, had filed a case against Yuvraj at the Hansi city police station, which was dismissed by the High Court. Apart from Yuvraj, the complainant Rajat had also filed a case against actress Munmun Dutta of sitcom ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ and Bollywood actress Yuvika Choudhary in the city police station as they had also made derogatory remarks against scheduled caste on social media. The police had arrested them and released them on interim bails. Now the way has been cleared for Hansi police to file a chargesheet against Yuvraj, Yuvika and Munmun in the special court.
