Weightlifting star Mirabai Chanu takes charge as Addl SP, Manipur

Imphal, Jan 15 (UNI) Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, Tokyo Olympics silver medalist, took charge as
Addl SP, Manipur Police, here on Saturday.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh helped her don police uniform and both exchanged salutes.
Mirabai expressed gratitude to all for the love and affection given to her.
She said it was her happiest day that the government has appreciated her work and offered
the post of Addl SP for winning silver medal in the Tokyo Olympics in 49 kg category.
Manipur government had offered Mirabai Chanu the post of Addl SP after her victory along
with a cash prize of Rs one crore.
