UP: Akhilesh holds meeting with allies over seat sharing in UP
Lucknow, Jan 12 (UNI) Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday held a meeting with the alliance partners to discuss seat sharing.
Sources said president of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj (SBSP) Party Om Prakash Rajbhar, state president of RLD Dr Masoon Ahmad, president of Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (PSP) Shivpal Singh Yadav, his son Aditya Yadav, president of Apna Dal, Krishna Patel and other leaders attended the meeting.
During the meeting it was decided to give one seat to Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). SP, while sharing a photo of NCP state president Umashanker Yadav with Akhilesh, informed that the party has been given Anupshahr seat in Bulandshahr district.
In a tweet the SP said that NCP leader KK Sharma will be the joint candidate from Anupshahr.
Akhilesh, while sharing a picture with the leaders of alliance partners, tweeted, “Discussed the development and future of Uttar Pradesh with the top leaders of the alliance partners.”
Sources said that it was agreed upon to give six seats to Shivpal Singh led PSP. Though Shivpal did not comment on the seat sharing, it is understood that his party will get Gunnaur, Jaswantnagar, Bhojpur, Jasrana, Mubarakpur and Ghazipur.
As per information, one seat has also been given to Trinamool Congress (TMC). Lalitesh Pati Tripathi will contest from Marihan seat in Mirzapur district as TMC candidate.
Sources said that SP has taken an initiative of leaving 103 seats in 403 member house for the allies. After several rounds of meetings with Rashtriya Lok Dal National President Jayant Chaudhary, a consensus has been made to give 32 seats to the RLD. The deal between the SP and the SBSP is still to be struck as Om Prakash Rajbhar is adamant on at least four dozen seats.
Sources said that once the names of the candidates are finalised for the seats to go for polling in the first phase, the list of the SP alliance will be released soon.
