International Ball Point Pen Day : A day to commemorate the invention of the ballpoint pen, which revolutionized writing). The first paten for Ball Pen was issued to John J Loud on Oct. 30,  1888.  Though Hungarian editor Laszio  Biro  filed for a  smugg free  Ball-pen  for  getting  British Patent on June 15, 1938.

1963 – US President JF Kennedy  signed the  law for equal pay for equal work for men & women.  He was the President of  the US between 1961-63 (was assassinated in Dallas).                                              1966 – MIG  fighter planes were designed/modified  at Nashik. Krishna Electricals’ MIG Welding Machines is one of the  factories  engaged  in the job.

1985 – Coca Cola announces they’d bring back their 99-year-old formula. (The formula is a closely held trade secret known only to a few employees. Contrary to what is implied by the “cola” name, Coca-Cola syrup does not contain any kola nut extract. The primary taste of Coca-Cola comes from vanilla and cinnamon with trace amounts of orange, lime and lemon and spices such as nutmeg).

2019 – Former Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari arrested on corruption charges. He’s  the husband of fprmer PM  Benazir Bhutto. He’s the Prez. between 2008.13.

2019 – Three men sentenced to life imprisonment for rape and murder of eight-year-old Muslim girl in Kathua, in high-profile case that sparked political resignations and nationwide protests.

2024 – Apple announces it will be using generative A.I. on its devices and in its update for Siri,   in a partnership with OpenAI.

Born…. 1908 – General Jayanto Nath Chaudhuri, who served as the 6th Chief of Army Staff from 1962 to 1966 and the Military Governor of Hyderabad State from 1948 to 1949 (pic credit-scribd.com).

1938 – Rahul Bajaj, billionaire businessman, the chairman of the Indian conglomerate Bajaj Group, and a member of parliament. He split Bajaj Auto into three units – Bajaj Auto, finance company Bajaj Finserv and a holding company in 2008. The  Group  employs  over  60,000  staff and has a net  worth  of $ 23.4 Billion  as in  2024.  It  stands  as the 10th richest family organidation.

1955 – Prakash Padukone, internationally famous Badminton player. One of the top Indian  shuttlers,   was World No. 1  in 1980  and won the All England  Open, San Jose California.  Commonwealth, World  and Asian Games He was  honoured with Arjuna and  Padma Shri awards.  He is the co-founder of Olympic Gold  Quest.  His daughter  Deepika is a popular film actress and married to actor Ranveer Singh.

1972 – Sundar Pichai, an Indian American business executive, a Senior Technology Executive, and the chief executive officer (CEO) of Alphabet Inc. and it’s subsidiary Google. He joined the world’s largest search company Google in 2004 and was selected for the company’s  top position on the strength of his hard work and ability. He was included in Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in 2016 and 2020.

1977 – Mika Singh, an Indian rapper, singer and performer. He’s known for composing  popular filmy songs  “Bas Ek King” (Singh Is Kinng), “Mauja Hi Mauja” (Jab We Met), “Ibn-e-Batuta” (Ishqiya),  “Dhanno” (Housefull), “Dhinka Chika” (Ready) and “Chinta Ta Chita” (Rowdy Rathore). He has released several solo albums and appeared on reality shows. His song “Sawan Main Lag Gayi Aag” was remixed by U.S  singer Pinky Paras.
