1431 – Joan of Arc was executed in Ruen, Fance. She was a folk heroine, military commander who believed she had divine sanctions to defend France from British attacks. She was re-christened and established as Catholic Saint after 500 years of her execution by the British.
1856 – The first milk quality law in the U.S. was signed by the Governor of Massachusetts prohibiting adulteration of milk.
1867 – Dar-ul-Uloom was established in 1867 in Deoband, Uttar Pradesh. It came to be

2 – Viswanathan Anand wins his fifth World Chess Championship. Viswanathan “Vishy” Anand is an Indian chess grandmaster. Anand is a five-time World Chess Champion, a two-time World Rapid Chess Champion, a two-time Chess World Cup Champion, a World Blitz Chess Cup Champion. He became the first grandmaster from India in 1988, and he has the eighth-highest peak FIDE rating of all time. In 2022, he was the elected Deputy President of FIDE. He has had an important role in popularizing chess in India.

2019 – Narendra Modi sworn in for a second term as Indian Prime Minister in New Delhi with 8,000 Guests, the largest-ever gathering at the President Palace forecourt. President Ramnath Kovind administered the oath to PM Modi and his cabinet consisting of 25 Ministers of Cabinet rank and 33 Ministers of State. Guests included Heads of BIMSTEC countries around Asia, leading politicians including former PMs Dr. Manmohan Singh, HD Deve Gowda, Sonia Gandhi, stae CMs and noted industrialists Ratan Tata, Mukesh Ambani, Kumar Mangalam Birla, NR Narayanamurthi and many more. NDA led by PM Modi had a majority with BJP winning 303 seats and allies adding over 50 more Lok Sabha members.
Born….1909 – Pandit Mukharam Sharma, a well-known screenwriter of his time in ‘Indian Cinema’. He arrived in Ma
yanagri Mumbai from Meerut as an ordinary person and got a great status in the film world as a writer of fiction, screenplay, and dialogue. Film distributors from all over India used to call Pt. Mukharam Sharma and ask who his next film was and with whom. At that time Mukhramji’s answer was guaranteed to sell all rights to a film overnight. Distributors and producers used to make regular visits to his house to keep track of what he was writing. He had the exclusive right to sell his stories to the producers and directors of his choice. He was the first story writer to have won the Filmfare Award for a Story in 1955. His stories for Aulad, Vachan, Sadhna
, Talaq, Dhool Ka Phool, Hamjoli, Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya etc. were super hits.
1955 – Paresh Rawal, an actor, comedian, film producer, and politician known for his works notably in Hindi and few Telugu films like Woh Chokri, Sir, Sardar, Arjun, Naam, Shiva, OMG, Hera Pheri series, Hungama etc. He acted in about 240 films and won a National award and 3 Filmfare awards. He wa also honoured with Padma Shri in 2014. He was a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha representing Ahmedabad East constituency from 2014 to 2019.

P…. 1606 – Guru Arjan Dev, the Sikh Guru and the first of the two Sikh Gurus martyred by the Mughals. He compiled the first official edition of the Sikh scripture called the Adi Granth, which later expanded into the Guru Granth Sahib. Guru Arjan Dev reorganized the Masands system initiated by Guru Ram Das, by suggesting that the Sikhs donate, if possible, one-tenth of their income, goods, or service to the Sikh organizations.
1912 – Wilbur Wright, American inventor and aviator, who with his brother Orville, invented the first powered airplane, Flyer, capable of sustained, controlled flight. Wilbur Wright piloted the longest flight that day
