Chandigarh / Punjab : The Tarn Taran police have arrested international drug mafia Shehnaz Singh, also known as Shawn Bhinder, who was wanted by the FBI. Bhinder is a notorious figure in a global narcotics syndicate involved in smuggling cocaine from Colombia to the United States and Canada. His arrest follows a major operation by US authorities on February 26, 2025, where four of his associates—Amritpal Singh alias Amrit alias Bal, Amritpal Singh alias Cheema, Taqdeer Singh alias Romi, and Sarabjit Singh alias Sabi—along with Fernando Valladares alias Franco, were taken into custody. The US authorities seized 391 kilograms of methamphetamine, 109 kilograms of cocaine, and four firearms from their homes and vehicles. Following this crackdown, Bhinder fled to India, where the Punjab police successfully tracked him down and arrested him. His capture is considered a significant breakthrough in the international fight against drug trafficking. Authorities believe his network has deep connections with global drug cartels, and his arrest is expected to provide crucial intelligence to dismantle further drug operations. The investigation is ongoing, and further legal proceedings are underway.
