Student protesters march to Jharkhand Assembly, demand answers over exam irregularities

A large number of JPSC-JSSC aspirants staged a protest near the Jharkhand Assembly in Ranchi on Monday, demanding action over alleged irregularities in examinations and the recruitment process.

The protesters, under the banner of JPSC-JSSC Reform Manch, formed a human chain and marched towards the Vidhan Sabha. The protesters’ key demands include cancellation of the JSSC-CGL examination, a CBI inquiry into the alleged irregularities and reforms in the recruitment process.

Speaking during the protest, an aspirant said the protesters would continue their agitation until their demands were addressed. He said their primary demands were cancellation of the JSSC-CGL examination and a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities.

Another protester said they would wait at the spot until the barricading was opened to allow them to move ahead.

The protesters also alleged that security personnel were stopping vehicles carrying aspirants who were attempting to join the march.

Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha MLA Jairam Kumar Mahato termed the situation a failure of the state government and said the demand for cancellation of the JSSC-CGL examination remained the key issue. He alleged that maximum irregularities had taken place in the examination and referred to claims made by Abhay Tiwari regarding the selection of candidates.

Earlier in the day, Leader of Opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly Babulal Marandi and several BJP leaders were detained by state police during protests outside Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s residence over alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC examinations.

The protesting aspirants have maintained that their key demands, including cancellation of the JSSC-CGL examination, a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities and reforms in the recruitment process, have not been fully accepted by the state government.
