London:   Dr. Saajan Sharma, Founder-Director of SRS Foundation, was  honoured at the House of Lords, where he was bestowed  upon  the Award for Excellence in Educational Leadership & Institutional Management—a significant international recognition of his contribution to value-based leadership and ethical institutional governance.  Earlier,  Dr. Sharma delivered a keynote address on Ethical Leadership at the prestigious University of Oxford, drawing inspiration from the teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
Addressing a distinguished gathering of academicians, students, and dignitaries at Oxford, Dr. Sharma asserted that in a rapidly evolving world, ethical leadership is no longer optional but a fundamental responsibility. He emphasized that leadership does not begin with position or authority, but with character and conscience.
“A leader may hold authority, but only an ethical leader earns trust,” he remarked, adding that true leadership is about doing the right thing—even when it is inconvenient or goes unnoticed.
Expounding on Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s philosophy, Dr. Sharma elaborated on the                         Five D’s of Leadership:
•Duty: Performing responsibilities sincerely without expectation of reward.
•Discrimination (Viveka): The ability to discern right from wrong.
•Discipline: Practicing self-control, as leadership begins with governing oneself.
•Devotion: Commitment to a higher purpose beyond personal ego.
•Dedication: Remaining steadfast to values, even under pressure.
He stressed that ethical leaders prioritize fairness over favoritism and long-term trust over short-term gains. Quoting Mahatma Gandhi, he said, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others,” reinforcing the central theme of service-oriented leadership.
Concluding his address, Dr.  Sharma introduced the acronym WATCH as a guiding principle for ethical conduct:
•W – Watch your Actions
•A – Watch your Words
•T – Watch your Thoughts
•C – Correct your Character
•H – Heart (HR)
He explained that when actions, words, thoughts, character, and heart are aligned, leadership becomes both ethical and transformative.
The address at Oxford and the honour at the British Parliament collectively underscored growing global appreciation for value-driven leadership and institutional excellence championed by Dr. Sharma.
