1.5-Tonne Poppy Husk Seized in Sirsa, 2 Arrested
Police bust major inter-state drug smuggling network.......
Sirsa : In a major anti-drug operation, Sirsa police seized 1,548 kg of poppy husk in a joint action led by ASP Ellenabad and CIA Ellenabad in-charge Inspector Dharmveer.
The consignment was found in a canter truck near Ding police station area. Two accused, Saddam Hussain and Nadar Khan, were arrested, while two others managed to escape. Police said the operation broke an inter-state drug smuggling network.
Inspector Dharmveer confirmed the action was based on a tip-off from the Saharanpur Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Uttar Pradesh. The suspects were transporting poppy husk from Rajasthan to Bathinda, Punjab.
The CIA team, led by ASI Prahlad Singh, set up a checkpoint near Patli Dabar bus stand on Ding road. The truck was intercepted around 4 am when the suspects tried to flee. Seventy-seven bags containing poppy husk, valued at over ₹1 crore, were recovered.
A case under the NDPS Act has been registered, and raids are ongoing to apprehend the remaining accused.
