Sanjay Raut custody extended till Sep 5
Mumbai: A Special PMLA Court has extended the judicial custody of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut till September 5 for his alleged money-laundering case of financial irregularities in the redevelopment of the Patra Chawl in suburban Goregaon.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had arrested Raut on Aug. 1, preceded by attachment of properties belonging to him and his business associates.
After his ED custody twice for 4 days each, the agency said they no longer needed him for custodial probe, and accordingly Raut was remanded to judicial custody on Aug. 8, and a few days later his wife Varsha was also interrogated in the same case.
The ED last month questioned Varsha Raut, wife of Sanjay Raut for more than nine hours in connection with the case and recorded her statement.
Sanjay Raut, 60, is a close aide of Shiv Sena president and former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray. (UNI)
