Raurkela, Bhubaneswar to get giant hockey sticks by noted sculptor
Puri: Maheswar Maharana, a noted sculptor, along with his 22 assistants are busy in shaping giant hockey sticks to be placed at various locations of Rourkela and Bhubaneswar, the two venues for the World Cup Men’s hockey, to commence from
January 13 next.
Maheswar said he was inspired by the hockey world Cup trophy during its visit to Puri and resolved to contribute on behalf of the Puri people for the WC being hosted by Odisha for the second time.
The sticks are 22 feet in length and are being sculpted at his work yard at Mukund Nagar located at the outskirts of Puri along the Puri Bhubaneswar national highway.
These decorative pieces made of fiberglass material will give a realistic look from a distance.
He said “we are preparing 16 sticks to be placed at important places of Bhubaneswar and Rourkela. (UNI)
