Punjab : The state of Punjab is currently experiencing an intense heatwave as temperatures have soared past 40°C in six districts, with Bathinda being the hottest at 43°C. The intense heat has prompted weather authorities to issue a heatwave alert across several districts, warning residents to take precautions against the extreme temperatures. The weather conditions in Punjab have been steadily rising, with a significant increase in heat observed in the past few days. The state is grappling with the scorching heat, causing discomfort to people and raising concerns about heatstroke and other heat-related illnesses. According to the meteorological department, the heatwave is expected to persist for the next few days. The high temperatures have caused many areas to experience an uncomfortable, dry heat, which has led to an increase in cases of heat exhaustion, particularly in rural areas. Bathinda, known for its high temperatures, is once again topping the charts with a temperature of 43°C, making it the hottest district in Punjab. The weather experts have advised residents to stay indoors during peak heat hours, especially between 12 PM and 4 PM when the sun’s rays are the most intense. Farmers and laborers working in the fields have been urged to take extra care, staying hydrated and seeking shelter during the hottest part of the day. However, there is some relief expected as weather forecasts predict a shift in conditions. Starting from April 30, there is a chance of rainfall in the region, which may bring a much-needed break from the sweltering heat. The rain showers are expected to cool down the temperatures slightly, offering respite to the people enduring the ongoing heatwave. While the rains will help reduce the severity of the heat, it is expected that the temperatures may remain high for a few more days before a significant change in weather patterns occurs. The Punjab government has also issued advisory notices to schools and outdoor workers to stay safe during the heatwave and take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related health issues. The upcoming rains are eagerly awaited by the residents who have been enduring one of the hottest spells in recent years.
