Amritsar (Punjab) : The Punjab Assembly has passed a resolution against the Centre’s new policy, alleging that it is an attempt to reintroduce the three repealed farm laws. The resolution, moved by the ruling party, claims that the policy does not mention the Minimum Support Price (MSP), which remains a key demand of farmers.

During the Assembly session, Punjab Chief Minister criticized the Centre, stating that the new policy is against the interests of farmers. He argued that it could lead to corporate control over agriculture, similar to the now-repealed farm laws that sparked massive protests. Opposition parties also supported the resolution, emphasizing that Punjab’s farmers will never accept any policy that threatens their livelihood.

Farmers’ unions in Punjab have also expressed concern over the policy, stating that it does not address their longstanding demand for legal MSP guarantees. They have warned of fresh protests if the government does not reconsider its approach.

The resolution passed in the Punjab Assembly urges the Centre to reconsider its policy and ensure that farmers’ interests are safeguarded. The state government has also called for consultations with farmers before implementing any major agricultural policy changes.

This move by Punjab is expected to escalate tensions between the state and the Centre, as agriculture remains a politically sensitive issue. The resolution reinforces Punjab’s stance in support of farmers and against any perceived attempts to undermine their rights.
