Bengaluru: In a major embarrassment to Karnataka Congress and Siddaramaiah, who don’t bat an eyelid in raising a stink against Hindi, had to swallow a bitter pill on Saturday when a pro-Kannada activist Arun Javagal walked out in an interaction with Rahul Gandhi, where he was not permitted to raise issues pertaining to federalism and Hindi imposition.
Taking to Twitter, Javagal said that the Gandhi scion was interested only in listening to those who opposed BJP and RSS, and least bothered to discuss interested topics of Hindi imposition and federalism.
“I received a call to participate in an interaction with Rahul Gandhi. I travelled all the way to Nanjangud just to know the Congress stand on federalism, Hindi imposition and the 2026 delimitation,” he said.
“Those willing to speak on other issues did not get a chance to speak. In between the meeting, after the organizers told me that I would not get a chance, I walked out,” Javagal said. However, Karnataka Congress spokesperson Lavanya Ballal denied Javagal’s complaint.
“None of the tribals who met (Rahul) yesterday had any political affiliations. The artists who met him today also did not speak about politics. (Senthil) has been given responsibility to ensure that the voiceless are heard, that is exactly what is happening,” she said in a tweet. (UNI)
