PM Modi Launches Aravali Green Initiative

New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch a major environmental initiative focused on greening the Aravali mountain range This project aims to transform barren land into fertile green zones and is timed to coincide with World Environment Day The campaign will include the development of around one thousand nurseries across 29 districts as part of the effort to promote large-scale afforestation and environmental sustainability

This initiative is the second phase of the “One Tree in the Name of Mother” campaign which was first introduced by PM Modi on June 5 2024 The campaign has grown into a widespread public movement encouraging citizens to plant trees and contribute to increasing green cover across the country The upcoming launch in the Aravali region will further strengthen this movement by focusing on the vital mountain range which spans across several states

Chief Ministers from Delhi Haryana Rajasthan and Gujarat will participate in the event marking their states’ commitment to the project These states cover large parts of the Aravali range and their involvement is crucial to the success of this ambitious project The collaboration between central and state governments highlights the shared responsibility for environmental conservation and sustainable development

The project aims to rehabilitate degraded lands improve biodiversity and mitigate the adverse effects of climate change in the region By establishing numerous nurseries the initiative will ensure the availability of saplings and promote community involvement in tree planting activities The afforestation efforts are expected to help control soil erosion improve air quality and support local ecosystems
