Odisha CM announces seven days relief for families of 128 marooned villages
Bhubaneswar, May 26 (UNI) Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced seven days relief for all families of 128 marooned villages of the cyclone affected districts.
Reviewing the post cyclone situation Mr Patnaik said major roads and 80 per cent of the electricity supply in cyclone affected districts would be restored in the next 24 hours .
Mr.Patnaik congratulated the Panchayat Representatives, district administration, community organisations, police for their excellent work and thanked the doctors and health workers for continuous health service in the affected districts during the cyclone.
The state government has evacuated nearly 6.5 lakh people from ten coastal Odisha districts , majority of them shifted from Balsore,Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Mayurbhanj districts,worst hit by the cyclone
The Chief Minister also directed to check the health status of persons evacuated during the cyclone even though all precautions were taken as per the covid guidelines. If necessary and required the covid tests should be conducted on them, he said.
Mr.Patnaik said that ODRAF personnel, committed to early restoration in Cyclone Yaas affected areas of the state, are engaged in various restoration efforts in Paradeep Municipal area and road clearance work in Simulia area of Baleswar.
He said road clearance work is in full swing to remove fallen trees in Morada, Rasgovindpur and Betanati region in Mayurbhanj district for early restoration of normalcy.
The restoration work is underway in full swing to ensure early resumption of normalcy in the Cyclone Yaas affected areas of the state.
The Quick Response Teams (QRT) along with ODRAF teams are removing fallen trees in different parts of Baleswar.The ODRAF and Odisha Fire Service personnel have stepped up to expedite road clearance efforts in Manikunaba GP of Marshaghai, Kendrapara.
On the damage caused by the cyclone, Special Relief Commissioner P K Jena said as per the preliminary assessment a large number of trees, electric poles and telephone poles were uprooted in the affected districts and tidal wave has inundated several villages.
He said restoration work will be taken up after assessment of the damages was done tomorrow.

The SRC ruled out the possibility of any flash flood in Budhabalanga. He said 200 of the 310 roads of the Rural development and another 295 roads were cleared of trees .
Some coastal embankments and saline embankments were breached ,Mr,Jena said adding the area has not yet been made accessible. The restoration of the embankments will be done after the water receded and the Water Resources department officials made the assessment, he said.
