Odisha BJP slams Naveen govt for worsening law order, large-scale corruption
Bhubaneswar: The BJP on Wednesday slammed the ruling BJD government in Odisha for the deteriorating law and order situation, farmers’ problems, rise in incidents of women atrocities, large-scale unemployment, massive corruption, poor health services and financial mismanagement.
In a resolution passed at its party’s state executive committee meeting, the BJP said the financial management of the state is a host of contradictions and plethora of confusion.
Though the government is claiming to have raised the size of the budget, in fact the percentage of expenditure has gradually declined.
It said though Odisha is a revenue surplus state yet 49,500 government posts are lying vacant.
The resolution said the employment in the state has totally stopped. Lakhs of skilled workers of the state are migrating to other states in search of work.
As many as 15 lakh youths who have registered their names for jobs are waiting to get employment. The government, it said, has not had the guts to ask the companies operating in the state to provide jobs to the youths of the state.
The education system in the state has collapsed. In the name of transforming schools, a huge amount of money is being looted, the resolution said claiming that. There are no headmasters in as many as 1800 high schools.
The schools are running without classrooms, teachers, and sports facilities.
There has been corruption in all spheres and the development of the state is hampered due to wide-scale corruption.
The law-and-order situation has collapsed. The missing of around 27,000 children during the last five years, four rapes and abduction cases on average every day reflected the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
Farmers, the resolution said, are not getting the right price for their produce. Despite repeated agitation by farmers, the government has failed to improve the Mandi’s and the token system for paddy procurement.
Though the central government is providing funds for the farmers, it is not reaching them. More than 18 lakh farmers are being deprived of getting Rs 6,000 assistance per year provided by the centre under the PM Kissan Yojana as the state government could not provide the list of the beneficiaries.
The resolution said the central government has raised the MSP of paddy to Rs 2040 per quintal but the farmers in Odisha are not getting it due to the unholy nexus between the millers and the agents.
The construction of several irrigation projects in the state remained incomplete for years escalating the cost by several times, it alleged (UNI)
