Nupur Sharma moves SC against rape, death threats
New Delhi: Suspended BJP Spokesperson Nupur Sharma once again moved the Supreme Court on Monday, seeking stay on her arrest in all nine First Information Report (FIRs) registered against her across India for making certain alleged remark against Prophet Mohammad during a TV debate.
In her fresh petition, Sharma said that after SC’s strong criticism of her, certain fringe elements had renewed their alleged threat to her life and also gave rape threats to her.
She further pleaded to the Supreme Court that since the First Information Report (FIR) registered against her was in Delhi, all FIRs at other places be clubbed together with the Delhi one.
Nupur’s alleged remark against the Prophet had triggered massive protests across the country and drawn sharp reactions from many Gulf countries also. Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) had subsequently suspended her from the party due to this. (UNI)
