Shimla: A National Lok Adalat for Pre-Litigation & Pending matters was organized on Saturday on 14th May, 2022 under the patronage of Patron-in-Chief Justice Mohammad Rafiq, Chief Justice, High Court of Himachal Pradesh and under the able and innovative guidance of Justice Sabina, Judge, High Court of Himachal Pradesh and Executive Chairperson, Himachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority in all the Courts in the State of Himachal Pradesh. Executive Chairperson during video conferencing held with the Judicial Officers laid emphasis on effective identification and disposal of cases before National Lok Adalat. All the Judicial Officers were also impressed upon identifying old cases, motor accident claims cases, matrimonial cases, insurance matters, labour court matters, criminal compoundable matters etc. As per direction of Hon’ble Executive Chairperson, a special drive was undertaken in the remote or tribal areas of districts of Chamba, Kinnaur and Lahaul & Spiti for affording opportunity to the people of these areas for amicable settlement of disputes both at pre-litigation and post-litigation stage in the National Lok Adalat. This time National Lok Adalat was not only organized but celebrated in the spirit of an Utasav all over the state. In this regard, a special drive was also undertaken for mass awareness about National Lok Adalat by associating local bodies, police, financial institutions, banks, NGOs, stakeholders, representatives of PRIs, PLVs, Asha or Anganwari workers, Public Transport Services etc. IEC material was distributed amongst the general public containing contact numbers of all eleven DLSAs for the convenience of the public, so that maximum number of cases are identified. Justice Sabina, Judge, High Court of Himachal Pradesh and Executive Chairperson, HP State Legal Services Authority inaugurated the first National Lok Adalat at Keylong and personally supervised proceedings taking place before the Lok Adalat Benches of National Lok Adalat at Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee, Manali and at Keylong, district Headquarters of Lahaul & Spiti, where National Lok Adalat held for the first time and interacted with stakeholders and litigants. 240 cases were taken-up for settlement at Keylong, district Headquarters of Lahaul & Spiti during the National Lok Adalat. In total about 43,780 cases were taken up in the National Lok Adalat before different benches for settlement, out of which about 19205 cases were settled and disposed off in National Lok Adalat to the claimants.
