Nanded farmers feted for modernizing agriculture
Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Jan 11 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Finance Dr. Bhagwat Karad on Tuesday held a meeting to discuss the nitty-gritty of Aurangabad metro project.
The technical work for the route planned from Waluj to Shendra and Bidkin to Harsul has already begun, the MoS told in the meeting attended by top district officials as well as Maha Metro representatives.
He informed, “The metro work will be done in the districts of Navi Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik and Aurangabad. There is a proposal of metro for at least 30 km in these cities.”
He suggested, “There should be double-decker metro bridges in Aurangabad; the first bridge will be for traffic and the second for metro.”
“The total cost of the project is around Rs 5,000 crore. While, a compress mobility plan for this city is being prepared by the Maha Metro Corporation Limited,” he added.
In Nanded Maharashtra PWD Minister Ashok Chavan on Tuesday felicitated district farmers for modernizing agriculture with the introduction of innovative technologies.
Also Nanded Guardian Minister, Mr Chavan presented mementos to a total of 17 farmers at the function organised by the Zilla Parishad’s Agriculture Department.
Speaking at the occasion, he remembered late Shankarrao Chavan in whose memory the awards were given.
“Late Vasantrao Naik led the agricultural revolution while Dr Shankarrao Chavan made contribution for the water revolution. As a result, this arid region also got its rightful water,” he remarked.
He further said, “The slogan ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’ was given by the late Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri to bring the majority of farmers in rural India into the stream of development.”
“Similarly, the state government has implemented numerous schemes to bring rural areas and farmers into the mainstream,” he added.
