NEW DELHI — On Thursday, the Congress party lashed out at the Central government in response to a video that emerged on May 4 showing two women being paraded naked in the state of Manipur. Congress party president Mallikarjun Kharge accused the government of Narendra Modi of turning democracy into “mobocracy.”

He stated that “humanity has died in Manipur” and requested that Prime Minister Narendra Modi talk about the state that has been plagued by ethnic violence in Parliament and explain what has transpired to the nation. He claimed that “humanity has died in Manipur.”

Thursday marks the beginning of the Monsoon Session of the Parliament.

In a tweet, Kharge expressed his opinion that the Modi government and the BJP had turned democracy and the rule of law into a mobocracy by tearing apart the fragile social fabric of the state.

“Your country, India, would never forgive you for being silent, Narendra Modi ji. He said in a tweet that “if there is any conscience or an iota of shame left in your government, then you should speak about Manipur in the Parliament and tell the nation what happened without blaming others for your dual incompetence — both at the Centre and in the state.” “If there is any conscience or an iota of shame left in your government, then you should speak about Manipur in the Parliament and tell the nation what happened.”

The leader of the Congress party made the statement that, “In this hour of crisis, we stand together with the people of Manipur.” He also accused Prime Minister Modi of having “abdicated” his constitutional duties.

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh lashed out at the government, saying that it has been 78 days since a full-scale outbreak of ethnic violence broke out in Manipur and 77 days since the horrific episode in which two women were undressed, paraded, and allegedly raped. Ramesh made these statements while condemning the administration.

According to him, it has been 63 days since a FIR was filed against unknown persons, and the individuals who are responsible for the crime are still at large.

As a result of the ongoing ban on Internet use in Manipur, the rest of India was mostly unaware that such a terrible event had taken place. But it is completely unforgivable that the Minister of Women and Child Development (Smriti Irani) delayed for 76 days to speak to the Chief Minister of Manipur or even issue a statement,” Ramesh stated in his lengthy post on Twitter.

“Why wasn’t this brought to the attention of the Union government, the home minister, or the prime minister? When is the Modi government going to stop pretending like everything is fine? he stated.
