Minister Bhagat Lays Foundation Stone of Rs 50-Lakh Community Hall in Model House
Jalandhar: Punjab Horticulture and Defence Services Welfare Minister Mohinder Bhagat on Monday laid the foundation stone of a community hall in Model House, reaffirming the Punjab Government’s commitment to strengthening civic infrastructure and public amenities.
Accompanied by Mayor Vineet Dhir, District Planning Committee Chairman Amritpal Singh and Councillor Raj Kumar Raju, the Minister said the community hall would be constructed in Ward No. 45 at a cost of Rs 49.46 lakh. The project fulfils a long-pending demand of residents and will provide a modern venue for social, cultural and community activities.
Bhagat said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government is implementing development-focused policies aimed at improving public welfare and accelerating growth. He added that there is no shortage of funds for welfare projects and that several new development initiatives would be launched in the coming months.
The Minister, Mayor and Chairman said the community hall would serve as a common platform for social gatherings, educational programmes, cultural events and awareness campaigns, helping strengthen community participation and social harmony.
They reiterated the government’s commitment to balanced development in both urban and rural areas, with public welfare infrastructure projects remaining a key priority.
Local residents welcomed the initiative and expressed confidence that the facility would significantly benefit the community by providing a dedicated space for a wide range of public activities.
Later, Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat paid obeisance on the birth anniversary of Sadhguru Swami Gyan Giri Maharaj and extended greetings to devotees. He urged people to follow the saint’s teachings to build a harmonious and compassionate society and said the new community hall would help facilitate larger celebrations of the occasion in the future.
