Karnataka: No plan to deport 72 Rohingyas living in Bengaluru
New Delhi, Oct 25 (UNI) The Karnataka government on Monday submitted before the Supreme Court that it has no immediate plan to deport the 72 Rohingyas residing in Bengaluru.
It also stated that the plea of BJP leader Ashwini Upadhyay is not maintainable either in law or on the facts of the case and is liable to be dismissed in limine.
“As many as 72 Rohingyas are working in various fields and Bengaluru City Police have not taken any coercive action against them. There is no immediate plan of deporting them,” the government said in an application filed in response to Upadhyay’s plea.
Upadhyay’s plea seeks directions to the central and state governments to identify, detain and deport all illegal immigrants and infiltrators, including Bangladeshis and Rohingyas, within one year.
The plea also prayed for confiscation of the disproportionate assets of people who facilitate Rohingyas and Bangladeshi infiltrators with PAN, Aadhaar, passport, ration card, voter card, and driving license.
The plea further stated that the influx of infiltrators poses a serious threat to the unity, integrity and security of the country.
“Total 5 crore infiltrators by taking advantage of their ethnic similarities and other connections with the people of India (are) illegally residing in India unlawfully,” the petition said.
