Hassan, April 17: Reiterating that JDS is ‘B-Team of the BJP’, LoP and former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday said that the rival party is bent upon denying any party a full majority in the 2023 assembly election. “Kumaraswamy has been repeatedly claiming that the JDS will win 123 seats in the next elections. Can it win that many seats? It does not want any party to come to power with a full majority. It is expecting to win about 25 seats and with it, it wants to join hands with any party to form the government. JDS is the B-Team of BJP,” he said addressing Congress workers here after a protest march over the corruption issue. This statement comes on a day when ex-Congressman and his associate CM Ibrahim formally joined the JDS and took charge as party’s state president. This development is very significant when Congress and JDS are craving for the Muslim pie in the state. The seasoned ex-PM Deve Gowda has fielded a Muslim face to consolidate JDS’ hold on the community and hopes to reduce Congress to a fringe party in 2023 assembly elections via splitting of votes. Earlier, Siddaramaiah said the Congress had given a chance to Kumaraswamy to rule, despite having won 80 seats, but he stayed in a hotel and hardly met the legislators and ministers, which ended in the collapse of JDS-Congress government. “Now he blames Congress for his failure. It is like a dancer who blamed the floor for his inability to perform,” he said. On BJP rule in the state and the center, Siddaramaiah urged the people to overthrow both governments as they have failed to provide jobs to the youth, and to divert attention from genuine issues, its fringe outfits are targeting minorities by raking up issues like halal cut, hijab and imposing restrictions on Muslim traders in festivals.
