Israel’s health ministry calls for avoiding travel abroad due to COVID-19
JERUSALEM, Apr 22, The Israeli Ministry of Health on Thursday called on the entire population, including those vaccinated and recovered, to avoid unnecessary travels abroad.
The ministry said this is due to the high morbidity rates in the world and the presence of variants of the virus.
It also issued a warning on travels to Ukraine, Ethiopia, Brazil, South Africa, India, Mexico and Turkey.
The warning reflects both the current situation and the morbidity levels based on several criteria such as the countries’ declarations, the percentage of vaccination and recovery, and evidence of variants, said the ministry.
It added that even vaccinated or recovered people may become infected with new variants of the virus, thus endangering not only themselves and those close to them, but also the entire country.
Israel had imposed a ban on inbound and outbound flights on Jan. 24, 2021, and in mid-March gradually lifted the restrictions, allowing flights to the country from all locations.
