Himachal becomes 1st LPG enabled & smoke free state
Hamirpur (HP), Jan 3: Himachal Pradesh has become the first LPG enabled and smokes free state in the country due to Ujjwala scheme of the Center and Grihini Suvidha Yojana of the state government.
The Center government had started the Ujjwala scheme to get rid of the diseases caused by smoke. Along with this, the Himachal government also started the Grihini Suvidha Yojana to benefit more and more women under the scheme.
An official spokesman said Monday Under the Ujjwala scheme, 1.36 lakh free domestic connections were given in Himachal at a cost of Rs 21.81 crore, while under the Grihini Suvidha scheme of the Himachal government, 3.23 lakh housewives were given free gas cylinders at a cost of Rs 120 crore.
Similarly, the Mukhyamantri Grihini Suvidha Yojana was launched on 26 May 2018.
Due to the central and state government schemes, the women of the state have got rid of the smoke of the stove while cooking.
Also, under this scheme being implemented for environmental protection, LPG connections are being distributed free of cost to families without gas connections.
The objective of launching Mukhyamantri Grihini Suvidha Yojna was to provide free gas connections to those families which were not covered under the Centre’s Ujjwala scheme.
On the lines of the Ujjwala scheme, the state government started the Chief Minister Grihini Suvidha Yojana.
The Ujjwala Yojana being run by the Central Government and the Chief Minister Grihini Yojana of the State Government are no less than a boon for the women of Himachal.
Food Supplies Minister Rajendra Garg says that as a result of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and Mukhyamantri Grihini Suvidha Yojna, the dependence on wood for fuel has reduced.
Along with this, the adverse effect of smoke on the health of women has also been relieved. Due to these schemes, the standard of living of women has also improved, he further claims.
