Panaji, Jun 19 (UNI) Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has announced that his government would distribute the most precious and rare historical book ‘Action in Goa’ by Dr Rammanohar Lohia all over India as well as all educational institutes and libraries in Goa.
He released the reprint of the 1947 book on the occasion of 75th anniversary of Goa Revolution Day on June 18. It is published by Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Research Foundation, New Delhi.
Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat as well as Abishek Ranjan Singh, chairman of the Lohia Foundation, were present at the online function held at CM’s Altinho bungalow.
Dr Sawant lauded the work of the Foundation to make the rare book available for the readers, including history students, researchers and journalists. He also rendered government support for the two-day conference the Foundation is planning to hold in Goa, now postponed to 18-19 September due to pandemic.
Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat said the book was important in terms of the historic speech Dr Lohia had made in Margao on 18th June 1946, which was not available anywhere. Also, he said, the Open Letter to Goans Dr Lohia had written in December 1946, which provides an agenda for Goa’s development.
Mr Singh said the two-day tri-national conference scheduled in September would come out with more such books written by other Inian luminaries about Goa’s freedom struggle, which was started by Dr Lohia in 1946.
The function was compered by Anant Agne, Secretary of Goa Nehru Trust.
