Goa approves MECL’s proposal for assessment of mineral acreage

Panaji, Nov 24 (UNI) The Goa Government on Wednesday approved the proposal submitted by Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited (MECL) for assessment of mineral acreage for the state for auctions related work.

According to sources, MECL had submitted a proposal for undertaking initial work related to Geological Mapping and field related studies for demarcating the mineral blocks by collecting data in the field and submit a report in respect of five mineral blocks for immediate auction process.

MECL would conduct survey work, geological work, sampling work, laboratory studies and submit a report within 30 days from the completion of field work.

Recently, the government had signed an MoU with MECL and according to that the cost of exploration would be claimed by submitting a proposal to National Mineral Exploration Trust (NMET) and funds would be utilised to carry out exploration related work for auction process.
The exercise would cost Rs 36.14 lakh.
