Amritsar : Giani Harpreet Singh, the suspended Jathedar of Takht Damdama Sahib, is unlikely to attend the Sikh clergy meeting convened by Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh on January 28. Sources indicate he has not been invited yet.
Suspended by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) pending an inquiry into a domestic dispute case, his absence may intensify the ongoing conflict between the Akal Takht and SGPC.
The meeting will primarily address issues arising from the Shiromani Akali Dal’s reluctance to follow directives from the Akal Takht-constituted committee for its membership campaign.
